Your profile must be shared with your housing provider in order to create an Assistance Animal Profile. If you currently have a No Pet/Animal profile but need to register an Assistance Animal, you will first need to deactivate your original profile.
Follow these steps to deactivate your current No Pet/Animal profile and submit an accommodation request.
Step 1: Deactivate Your "No Pet" Profile
Before adding an Assistance Animal, you must remove your existing No Pet/Animal profile:
- Locate your profile and click the three vertical dots on the right side.
- Select the "Deactivate" button.
- Choose the reason for deactivation, check the affirmation box, and click "Yes, I am sure" to finalize.
Step 2: Select How Many Animals You Have
Once the old profile is removed, you will be prompted with the question: “How many pets/animals do you have?”
- Use the "+" button to increase the counter to the correct number of animals.
- Click "Submit" to proceed.
Step 3: Create an Assistance Animal Profile
Now you can define the type of animal you are requesting:
- Select the species that accurately represents your animal.
- Crucial Step: Check the box stating that you are making a "reasonable accommodation request."
- Follow the prompts that appear and click the "Complete your Request" button at the bottom of the screen.
Please select the category that best describes how your animal assists you based on the definitions below:
-
Service Animals are any dog that is individually trained (or currently in training) to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Other species of animals, whether wild or domestic, trained or untrained, are not service animals for the purposes of this definition. The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to the individual's disability.
Important note: Emotional support is explicitly excluded as a service task under the Fair Housing Act.
- Support Animals are defined as trained or untrained animals that do work, perform tasks, provide assistance, and/or provide therapeutic emotional support for individuals with disabilities.
Step 4: Submit for Review
Fill in the remaining details of the animal's profile. Once everything is accurate:
- Click the "Submit for Review" button in the top right corner.
Note: Your request is not active until you click "Submit for Review." Our team will then review your profile and documentation and provide an update on your accommodation request status.
